Managing your pain after hip and knee replacement surgery
Controlling pain after total knee and hip surgery is important for your recovery. Ask Dr. Messieh about options that may be used  before, during and after the surgery that may give long lasting pain control, meaning you may need fewer pain medications, so you can focus more on healing

Single injection Hyaluronate injections are now available for the treatment of knee pain. Is Hyaluronate right for me? It is used to treat knee pain secondary to the pain of osteoarthritis. If you have not obtained pain relief with a steroid injection and pain pills, consider a single Hyaluronate knee injection that may result in long lasting pain relief.

How you Approach Hip Replacement surgery makes a BIG difference

Easier on your muscles. Faster on your feet.
The Potential Benefits of the Minimally Invasive  Anterior Supine Procedure compared to traditional hip replacement are:
    • Quicker recovery due to limited muscle separation during surgery
    • Less pain due to reduced tissue damage
    • Performed with just one small incision
    • Fewer limitations and restrictions after surgery
    • May leave the hospital the next day
    • More accurate implant placement

The side approach to total knee replacement

Dr. Michael Messieh offers a minimally invasive, muscle sparing approach to knee replacement surgery. The muscles over the knee are not cut but rather lifted up out of the way. This medial side approach may result in significantly faster recovery and more strength and mobility in the new knee.

    • Our program is often results in the majority of patients going home in 2 days or less!

    • Our patients report pain levels < 2 on a scale of 0 to 10 at the time of discharge from the hospital!

    • Our patients walk more than 100ft before they go home from the hospital!

    • The majority of our patients are just using a cane 1 week after surgery!

Few orthopedic surgeons are trained in this procedure. Results may vary

Reverse Shoulder Replacement             Surgery may be your Best Option

If you are you over the age of 65 and have a painful shoulder with little or no movement, you may benefit from a reverse shoulder replacement. Traditional shoulder replacement surgery may not be a good option for people with shoulder pain who have had previous shoulder surgery, have rheumatoid arthritis, sustained a fracture of the shoulder or have been diagnosed with a large rotator cuff tear that can't be repaired. The recovery from this surgical procedure is faster and less painful than rotator cuff  surgery. Most patients leave the hospital the next day and no physical therapy is needed.
